BOTH Mike and Mathew de Kock predicted last year that Australian-bred Alice Springs will get better with maturity.
Alice Springs made it four wins in a row – from only six career starts, when she kept going gamely in a MR88 Handicap over 1600m at Turffontein last Saturday. She is unbeaten over a mile, unbeaten in the hands of jockey Randall Simons and emerging as a feature race prospect for John Kalmanson’s Varsfontein Stud Syndicate.

Alice Springs is a produce of Varsfontein Stud’s former former stakes-winning race mare Alexandra Rose, who stands at Arrowfield Stud Down Under.
The nice thing about three-year-old Alice Springs as that she rises to every task – she’s made rapid progress through the divisions and seems to hold back until she’s challenged. She’s only just started improving, she has more talent to reveal and there are more wins to come.
