March 27, 2015THE group of South African racing enthusiasts on tour in Dubai with Durban journeyman Phil Georgio arrived in a bus at Mike de Kock’s Blue Stables in Dubai on Thursday afternoon to see the stable’s World Cup contenders on parade.
Sixty-odd individuals had a chance to talk to Mike, snap a few photos of the horses and have their photos taken with the team.
There can’t be many racing stables who’d allow this kind of activity on the eve of major races and Mike commented: “It was a privilege to host Phil and his crowd like we’ve done for the past few years and the horses enjoy the attention too. The support is heartwarming and I think it is essential to show the public what we do, what goes on behind the scenes. Phil’s annual World Cup trip is legendary and carries my full support.”
Said Georgio: “This year’s Dubai trip has been a rave, as alway. There were fewer visitors in the group, but we’ve had plenty of enquiries for 2016 when Majmu and Ertijaal are likely to be here. The bigger names attract supporters in droves. We’ll be fully booked in a few weeks.”
Here are some photos taken at the occasion:
