THREE-year-old Smart Mart remained unbeaten on the sand track at the Vaal when he posted his third win from seven starts in a MR80 Handicap over 1800m, following two 1600m victories at the country track – his combined winning margins totalling 11,75-lengths!

Smart Mart, a graduate of Moutonshoek Stud, has raced four times on turf for two decent places, close-up, but he clearly comes into his own on sand and by the way he is progressing looks like he could have a small feature in him this season.  With further improvement he may also shape as an Emerald Cup candidate later this year.
