CAPE Thoroughbred Sales (CTS) has announced two exciting changes to the 2017 CTS Million Dollar.
Announced in October 2013, The CTS Million Dollar is Africa’s richest thoroughbred race. CTS have decided that the Million Dollar concept can be improved for the benefit of all.
The 2017 edition of the CTS Million Dollar will now comprise not one race but two!
Adrian Todd: “Better options for buyers.”
To be run at Turffontein Racecourse on CTS Million Dollar Day, the two races, over distances of 1160m and 1600m respectively, have been specifically created to cater for sprinting, as well as classic three-year-old graduates of the qualifying 2015 CTS Sales, The Cape Premier Yearling Sale, the CTS March Yearling Sale and the CTS Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale.
For the 2017 CTS Million Dollar, each race will carry prize money of $500 000, that will be distributed down to fifth place. “Two races increase the chances for buyers, at any of the three qualifying sales, of seeing their purchases lining up in the final field of either the sprint, for the speed specialists or the mile, the perfect competitive distance,” stated CTS COO Adrian Todd.
And the second change? The announcement of a MILLION DOLLAR BONUS. Should any owner or partnership manage to win both races on The CTS Million Dollar Day at Turffontein in 2017, the winning team will receive an additional bonus of a Million Dollars.
From one race to two, from a Million Dollars to Two, now is the time to get in the running for the MILLIONS!
