THE Cape Ready To Run Sale starts at Durbanville on Friday, 22 November. It has already produced its fair share of smart individuals – after just one renewal! So the lifechangers are there for the finding.
There is little that beats approaching an exciting challenge with all of the boxes ticked. And this sale offers the buyer just that. High quality, great variety, tangible returns, reasonable prices. That about sums it up. It won’t break the bank, to hopefully eventually be in a position to buy a bank! And the thrills and excitement that accompany an association with a smart horse with big earning potential…well little beats the feeling, if you have been fortunate enough to have been there.
The outstanding 3yo Red Ray, impressive winner of the recent Gr3 Elusive Fort Cape Classic, and likely Cape Guineas favourite at this stage of the game, leads the field of last year’s top performers to have sold at the inaugural sale, ahead of smart performers Exelero and Arion, the Grade One performer Captain’s Reserve, and last season’s dual Grade 3 winner, Antonius Du Bois. And there is plenty of depth yet again amongst the 195 lots catalogued next Friday.
No doubt, one of the star attractions of the sale will be lot 153 – an own brother to Joey Ramsden’s sensation Red Ray and G1 winner Nania. Another one guaranteed to appeal to buyers is lot 84 – a full sister to champion filly, Mother Russia.
With a number of well bred youngsters from last year’s sale yet to face the starter, this impressive list of first year graduates looks sure to increase over the coming months. Prospective buyers will be spoilt for choice this year.
The catalogue offers individuals by such leading local sires as Captain Al (11), Dynasty (8), Kahal (1), Silvano (8), Trippi (13) and Var (4). There will also be plenty of interest in juveniles by the now deceased sire legends Jet Master (his daughter In The Fast Lane blew them away in Saturday’s Gr2 Choice Carriers Championship) and Western Winter, who have one and four lots on the sale respectively.
Promising young sires Antonius Pius (11), Jay Peg (12), Judpot (5), Rebel King (8), and Sail From Seattle (3) are also strongly represented on the one day sale.
For the more exotic tastes, the 2013 Cape Ready To Run Catalogue also sees lots on offer by such world famous sires as Commands, High Chaparral and Snitzel – all of whom have one apiece on offer.
The sale’s graduates qualify for entry in a R2 000 000 race to be run at Kenilworth over 1400m on 22 November 2014. The Pre-sale gallops will take place at Durbanville on November 21st, at 9am and the catalogue is available online at www.capethoroughbredsales.com
