INDIRA made up several lengths over the last 250m of Race 8 over 1000m at Turffontein on Saturday to win her third race from seven starts, going away.
Impeccably bred by Tiger Ridge from Rat Burana, Indira impressed one and all as she reeled in the leaders, so much so that commentator Alistair Cohen noted, “On the evidence of this run she is one to watch!”
Jockey Raymond Danielson said: “We knew she’d be off the bridle so I tucked her in, but we also knew she’d be running at them and when she quickened, the front runners started coming back to us. Matt had her spot on for this race, well done to him and the team.”
Assistant trainer Mathew de Kock commented: “I thought 60kg would be a tall order for a three-year-old filly here, but Indira won a good race and on the way she won she’ll probably do well over 1200m now. Well done to Mary (Slack),who is patient with her horses and deserves her winners.
Robbie Fradd put the stable on the board in Race 3 over 1800m,winning on Andre and Joyce Macdonald’s Jet Master-filly, Magic Jet, a popular exotic banker on the day.
