ANDREW WATKINS dragged his English backside out of bed early on Thursday to attend the morning breeze-ups at Mike de Kock’s yard, during which his runners completed their World Cup preparation. They included Igugu (headline photo), who is coming to hand well.
Here are a few Mdk representatives in action:
Soft Falling Rain, in mint condition!
Much-improved Mushreq, a quiet fancy all round.
Treasure Beach, improving fast.
Rerouted, a game effort expected, win or lose.
Igugu, turning the corner.
The Apache, in top shape at the right time.
From his position lurking in Meydan’s bushes, the hobbit Watkins missed this one. He ‘assumes’ it is Shea Shea and he could well be right, because this is what the sprinter’s rivals will see on Saturday!

Got goosebumps, really can’t wait. Can someone (anyone) please tell me if races will be live on Teletrack? Can’t find any channel in SA that is televising it……..would be gutted to miss it.
Yes, the meeting will be televised live on Tellytrack.
huge racing fan especially of the Mike De Kock mean machine, have no doubt Mike will do us proud. My heart is with the Apache, was never an Igugu fan but In have now become 1 and I hope she triumphs in the face of adversity. Supporting you all the way Mike. great trainers make great horses.
