ESPUMANTI (2-10) was one of the shortest-priced favourites at recent race meetings and although only three races were run as a result of rain at Turffontein on Saturday, her supporters had a chance to cash in on doubles and exotic bets.
Mary Slack’s filly by Dansili drew away impressively to win her first 1450m start in a Progress Plate under Anthony Delpech, and remained unbeaten after three starts.
The winning marging could have been more than the official 5.50-lengths and assistant ttrainer Mathew de Kock commented: “Don’t forget that she’s six months behind her rivals. This was impressive. She has a bright future and we’ll aim her at a feature race in the forthcoming Highveld Autumn season.”
Jessica Slack, tweeting on behalf of Wilgerbosdrift Stud, “said: “Well done to the De Kock team for a job well done!”
