THE stable’s grooms were treated to Mike de Kock’s annual grooms’ braai at Randjesfontein last week.

Grooms with 10 years of service or more were awarded with certificates and a R2,000 bonus and each had a chance to speak at the function.

Mike said: “We’ve built up a strong and wonderful team over the years and we are very proud of our grooms. Many of them have worked with top quality thoroughbreds here and elsewhere in the world and they have become good horsemen themselves. Without our grooms, we can never be as successful as we are.”

Also present at the braai was the stable’s Vengi Masawi, who graduated this year from Summerhill’s School Of Excellence.

“Vengi came through it with distinction and we will look next year at our objectives for him,” said Diane de Kock.
