FOUR-year-old gelding Silent Partner (33-10) bagged Saturday’s KZN Winter Chapter Challenge Series race over 1600m with a sustained run and came away to beat Prizefighter by a length.
The son of Silvano was only shown the stick by Anthony Delpech over the last 200m and won easier than the margin suggested.
Delpech commented: “I was a bit further back than I wanted in the early stage of the race, but when he moved up to them he quickened well. We had the race in the bag a long way out. Silent Partner is a decent horse, just short of the best, we can win a Grade 3 race with him.”
Said Mike de Kock: “Silent Partner is an honest and versatile horse, effective from 1200m up to 2000m. We freshened him for this race and he delivered. Well done to owner Raymond Koedyk, a firm supporter of the yard.”
Koedyk, who had a successful spell this season, was all smiles on course and said: “I have a bout ten horses in training and every winner is special. It’s nice to be back!”
