RIVER JETEZ put up an excellent run in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes on Friday, beaten only 3.5 lengths by Timepiece and catching the eye, staying on.
Timepiece (pink cap), wins the Falmouth. River Jetez runs on, yellow silks far left.
Mike de Kock was very pleased with the run, saying: “She gave a good account of herself, needing the run. Also the Falmouth was not the ideal preparation race for the Beverly D, but as things came about we had to race her here, so we’re delighted with her running up so close.”
The Group 1 Beverly D over 1900m will be contested on 13 August at Arlington Park in Chicago. It carries a stake of US$750,000.
The Falmouth winner Timepiece, a Zamindar half-sister to Group 1 winner Passage Of Time, was tried at the highest level last term, but finished only eighth in the Investec Oaks. Since then she has won three Listed races.
