GIBSON Girl had a handy galloping weight in a MR97 Handicap over 2400m at Scottsville on Saturday and after nibbles at 7-2 and 3-1 during the week found more support on course to start at 19-10, though Miss Maddie started official tote favourite.
Lightly raced Gibson Girl settled quickly after a good break and raced in third for most of the way.
She always gave the impression that she was relaxed in the running and when jockey Muzi Yeni gave the call she answered smartly, drawing away for a 2.75-length win over Rapid Flow and Isle Of Dogs.
Gibson Girl is owned in partnership by Lionel Cohen and Mike de Kock and has won three of nine career starts in Cohen’s brown-and-white silks.
She is a four-year-old by Doowaley from Lady Asrai, by Flaming Rock.
