RUDRA sliced through the field to win a Pinnacle Stakes over 1450m at Turffontein’s inside track on Saturday, and Mike de Kock confirmed on Sunday that the 2008 Summer Cup winner will be accepted to race in the 2011 J&B Met along with Mother Russia and Flirtation whent final declaration fall due tomorrow, Monday, 17 January.
“He seems to grow an extra leg when the sting is out of the ground,” enthused Mike about the six-year-old by Parade Leader who left his rivals “looking for parking” with a five-length success over Lightning Lecture and stablemate Havasha.
Mike added: “We raced Rudra in back-to-back weeks to get him to peak fitness because we’ve lost so much work at Randjesfontein. This was a very nice win and he will take his place in the Met.”
Rudra was partnered by Anthony Delpech, who commented: “He was travelling so well a the 500m-mark I thought we were making our move too soon, but it was a show of class, he was too good for them today. He’s a lovely horse, he will make a good hack when he’s finished his career. I’m glad he got the lolly today!”
Rudra is owned by the partnership of Tony Moodley, Paul Bayvel, Chris Gerber and Ferdi and Liz Ladeira.
