BESHAAYIR (AUS) and Water Nymph (headline photo) were popular winners for the stable and for punters on Sunday at Scottsville.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum’s Beshaayir (15-20 favourite) lined up in a poor field over 1600m and won well, but jockey Kevin Shea said she would improve with racing and that long distances would be her game. “She was still blowing a bit so she will come on more when she goes over further,” he commented.
Beshaayir wins.
Water Nymph (75-20 favourite), like the weekend’s feature winner Flirtation, is by top class stallion Silvano, and while her field was competitive, there were few anxious moments in a 1950m race. Anthony Delpech had Water Nymph within striking distance and when he gave her the green light she was quick to respond, racing away to win by 1.50 lengths from Split Liaison.
Water Nymph is owned by the partnership of Gold Circle’s John Bescoby, Nico Kritsiotis of Tellytrack, Ravi Padayachee, Alvin Pillay and A. Reddy. Nico was overjoyed in the Tellytrack studio, where he was on duty for Sunday racing.
