THE weekend started on a high note with a stable treble at Greyville on Friday night. Lammerskraal-bred Dark Wind made light work of a 16-16 draw and ran on powerfully to break his Maiden in Race 2 over 2000m.
This colt by Western Winter from Eris looks destined for more visits to the winner’s enclosure and jockey Anthony Delpech commented: “He won really well. I think he was a notch above this field tonight.”
Dark Wind looks like he enjoys racing.
Delpech rode Lionel Cohen’s filly Ashbrook to her second successive victory for the yard in Race 5 over 1600m and said: “She pulls hard but her last race helped to settle her down. She doesn’t give up, which is always good. She could be good enough to win something bigger this season.”
Sky Link (headline photo, blue silks), made his debut for the stable in Race 7 over 1400m and just when it looked like he was coming under pressure he dug down, found his rhythm and raced away to a 2.25-length win. He’s another promising sort for the partnership of Larry Nestadt and Bernard Kantor.
