Bet with the world for big payouts!

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) tote operates the biggest tote pools in the world. The concept of a global pool came about as the natural consequence of the HKJC’s importation of top-class international racing for their local customers combined with the advent of commingling – the result? World Pool.

Now, thanks to collaboration with nearly 30 operators around the globe, the World Pool enables bettors from all over the world to bet into a single pool on marquee days. The enormous liquidity and multi-million-rand betting experience have proved popular with racing fans and the initiative is generating significant financial returns for racing.

Through national commingling, players across six continents, from countries such as diverse as Australia, France, America, Britain (& Hong Kong) will be able to pit their skills against each other and bet into the same pool for races 1 – 10 on World Sports Betting Cape Town Met Day at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday 27th January 2024.

With more liquidity and stability in the pools, big stakes bettors have less of an impact on dividends, and the deepest pools on the planet can offer overlay opportunities for alert punters.

Additionally, these robust World Pools bring greater returns to local racing through increased media rights earnings to racecourse operators and greater revenue generated through commissions earned via pool betting. This business funding model enables racing operations become sustainable at a local level and help maintain and even boost stakes.

Bet With The Tote on World Sports Betting Cape Town Met Day

On World Sports Betting Cape Town Met day, TOTE Win, Place, Exacta, Swinger and Quinella (first two horses across the line in any order) pools for races 1 – 10 will be commingled into the Hong Kong Jockey Club tote.

In 2023, a hefty R615-million from around the world was wagered with the Hong Kong Jockey Club tote on nine of the 12 races on the World Sports Betting Cape Town Met meeting. Of those nine races, the Gr1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met achieved the highest turnover with a total of R92.4-million wagered.

The Quinella and Swinger (Quinella Place) proved the most popular bet-types. Quinella pools averaged R19.4-million and Swingers R21.5-million, while the substantial size of these international pools enabled TOTE customers to bet large amounts without significantly diminishing their pay outs.

With the injection of energy and infrastructure improvements at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, the Cape summer season in full swing and 10 races being included in this year’s pools, we are confident of similar, if not better results in 2024.

World Pool Moment Of The Day

Starting on Saturday, 27 January with Cape Town Met day at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth in South Africa, one World Pool Moment Of The Day will be selected from each World Pool meeting throughout the year and the groom of the horse featured will receive a prize of R100,000 (or equivalent of HK$40,000) with a total of over R25-million in prizes to be awarded over the course of the 2024 World Pool season.

At the end of the year, all the individual World Pool Moment Of The Day winners will be narrowed down by a panel of global racing experts, before being opened to the public vote for World Pool Moment Of The Year. The results will be revealed at the Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin in December with the winning Moment being awarded a VIP trip for four to Hong Kong for either the 2025 Hong Kong Derby or 2025 FWD Champions Day.
