There was more success for South African owners in Australia on Thursday when three-year-old filly Justaboom won her Maiden over 1600m at Pakenham Racecourse for the Robbie Griffiths/Mathew de Kock partnership.
Justaboom followed a good third on her 1400m debut at Sandown in December with a second place over 1600m at Cranbourne just before Christmas and was well fancied by punters in this, her third career start, going to post at $1.60 for a win. Ridden by Jamie Mott, she closed late from the back of the field and won in game fashion.
A Coolmore-bred by Justify out of Kononkop, by Pure Prize, Justaboom was purchased by Mike de Kock and Justin Vermaak at the 2022 Inglis Easter Sale. She races for the partnership of Mike, Mary Slack, Lawrence and Jarryd Wernars and Australian-based, Rob McClure.
“She looks above average and stays well,” Mike commented.
