Safe Passage was beaten just over four lengths by star colt Charles Dickens in Saturday’s G1 Gold Challenge at Greyville and Mike de Kock was most pleased with this final prep for Drakenstein Stud’s four-year-old son of Silvano.
Mike said on Sunday: “Safe Passage ran on well over the last 200m, which is what we wanted to see. A mile is too short for him these days. He’s is going to improve in the next few weeks and he’ll be coming into the race on good terms. The result was perfect in that he can’t get a penalty. We have a big July runner here, I’d say, and we’re looking forward to the race.”
Safe Passage is quoted at 13-1 on the Betway boards.
