Three-year-old Lushozi Shoop had plenty of friends in the betting market before her debut over 1160m at Turffontein on Thursday and she raced sensibly to a good win – as if she’d been to the racetrack before.
Jockey Keagan De Melo bounced Lushozi Shoop out and straight into the lead,. She remained there throughout for a good win, staying focused under momentarily pressure from Look To The Stars and Silk Garden and drawing away near the end.
Onwed by the Hollywoodbets Syndicate (Nom: Anthony Delpech), Lushozi Shoop was named after a dear Hollywoodbets team member who lost her life during the floods in KZN, in April 2022. This was a fitting and emotional tribute for those who knew Lushozi.
The filly is by What A Winter from Leylani, and on her pedigree and the evidence of this first win, is one for the notebook.
