We are enjoying our wonderful spate of winners and hoping it continues. There were two more at the Vaal Tuesday, as below:
Ablaan kicked on strongly to win. (JC Photos)
MR 90 HANDICAP, 3-YEAR-OLDS, 1400M
WINNER: ABLAAN
PEDIGREE: 3bG Silvano (GER) – Lady Lago (AUS) by Encosta De Lago (AUS).
BRED BY: Al Adiyaat (Sheik Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum).
OWNER: Al Adiyaat South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
JOCKEY: Gavin Lerena.
MDK COMMENTS: “Ablaan is not a big horse, quite temperamental. He’s out of an extremely well-bred mare that Jehan Malherbe and I bought in Melbourne. He is progressive. He surprised me, I thought he was always going to win over further, so I’m looking forward to putting him over a mile and further. He’s again a typical example of a horse who started in the right place on merit rating and can now win through the divisions.”
I Dream Of Genie, gun to tape.
MR 80 HANDICAP (F&M), 1200M.
WINNER: I DREAM OF GENIE
PEDIGREE: 4bF Gimmethegreenlight (AUS) – Little Genie by Judpot (USA).
OWNER: Mauritzfontein (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Mrs J B Jell).
BREEDER: Varsfontein Stud.
JOCKEY: Craig Zackey.
MDK COMMENTS: “I Dream Of Genie has done well with a good rest behind her. We’ve expected a bit more from her, and I think she will mature now and win us a few, maybe get some small black type. She is capable, just a little difficult to work with and to ride. But she’s got potential, a lovely pedigree.”
