Mathew de Kock, who trains in partnership with Robbie Griffiths at Cranbourne, received a trophy after winning a Benchmark 84 Handicap with King Magnus at Caulfield, Melbourne, on Saturday.
The headline pic shows Mat and King Magnus group of owners, all delighted to pose for the winning photo, and they made sure Mat knew how to hold a trophy, since he is a South African and one never knows!
But Mat knows how, for sure and Mike de Kock said: “When I was away in Dubai, Mat trained many big-trophy winners like Igugu and Majmu and Ertijaal, he knows, all right. I’m looking forward to visiting him!”
Mat said: “Caulfield is a nice experience for owners. They have a bar here at the track where all the connections of winners get drinks on the house until the next group of winning owners are due.”
How nice. St his best, Mat can probably down at least three or four frosties in half an hour? But they won’t have Black Lable or Castle Lager there for our man. Victoria Bitter, maybe, matey? No worries, then!
