Recently, a requisition calling for an SGM of the NHA to consider a number of amendments to its Constitution has been circulated throughout the industry for signature.
Robert Bloomberg writes that although the signatures of only 100 members are required, the fact that the requisition has already been signed by substantially more members from all parts of the racing community (including prominent owners, breeders, heads of leading bodies and organisations in the industry, trainers and jockeys) is indicative of the industry coming together in unison.
The NHA will see this shortly when the written requisition with accompanying signatures is handed in.
This is a collective call for immediate change. Whilst the requisition is a relatively complex document for some, in order to assist all, let me give you a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve and the rationality behind all of this.
The purpose of the SGM is to consider two Resolutions that propose to amend the NHA’s Constitution, namely:
1.The restructure of the composition of the NHA Board and changing the manner in which the NHA Board is appointed / elected;2.The removal of all reference to the Racing Control Executive in the Constitution.
