MIKE de Kock is looking forward today, especially, to see how Mount Pleasant (photo) will run after a break, as he is a highly thought of colt with penty of ability.
Runner comments for the day are:
Race 1: Meeneera
“She’s a speedy, forward sort. At home, she pings the gates so I’m hoping that will negate the draw. She does have a few little quirky issues, but if she brings her home work to the track she should be in the money today.”
Race 3: Scottish Primrose
“A little disappointing on her debut, but she was very green. She’s bred for this trip and has improved. She’ll know more about it today. Include her in your bets.”
Race 5: Gin Fizz and Due Diligence
“Gin Fizz is on her favourite course and she’s very fit which is in her favour because there are a few in the race with her who are coming off a rest, so don’t leave her out of anything.
“Due Diligence is coming off a fair break after quite a campaign at two. This is short of her best, we’re putting blinkers on her to try and make her a little more interested in the early part of the race. She’ll come on for the run, it’s a prep for her three-year-iold campaign.”
Race 7: Mount Pleasant
“He’s a horse I rate highly. He won a good Nursery in what seems to be quite a strong formline. This is a big weight-for-age test for him against older horses – an acid test. He’s not 100% fit, I’d say about 80-85%, he is coming off the sand in work, but he can run, I look foward to seeing how good the crop is.”
Race 9: Moments Like This
“She was a very good first-time winner and the form behind her has looked good. She needs to show us that she’s up to feature race quality, which we believe she is at home. This is a competitive handicap, but she should run well, I believe she is better than rated.”
