Al Muthana is out of Gold Medallion

AL MUTHANA, the favourite for Saturday’s Gr1 Golden Horse Medallion at Scottsville, has been withdrawn from the race.

Mike de Kock said on Friday morning: “He has a cut inside of his hock and it is slightly swollen. I don’t want to put him on the float to Pietermaritzburg and risk further stress.”

Al Muthana is held in high regard and he remains a contender for the Gr2 Golden Horseshoe on 25 July, Vodacom Durban July Day.

“He is being aimed at that race and will run if he draws well,” De Kock said.
