ON 3 April, our stable employee Eric Sambane was badly kicked on his head by a horse. Eric was rushed to hospital and operated on by a top doctor at the Sunninghill hospital. He sustained a skull fracture which put pressure on the brain. It was touch and go.
Sadly during this time due to Covid-19, no one was allowed to visit him in ICU. We just phoned every day and spoke to the nurses or the doctor. Dr Bhoola attended to Eric and updated us of Eric’s progress.
In the beginning it was not looking good with Eric’s recovery. But this last week they removed his pec tube and he started eating on his own. It was a wonderful day yesterday as he was discharged. He has recovered well and now needs time to recover fully.
All this care would not have been possible without Workmen’s Compensation Fund. Definitely a must have for all trainers. We would like to thank and commend Sunninghill hospital for their assistance in getting Eric better. We will now make plans for Eric to head home to recover with his family.
