Mr Ferraris hands over trophy

ORMOND Ferraris, the recently retired master trainer who had the Listed Oaks Trial named after him (having won 10 Oaks himself), handed over Saturday’s inaugural winning trophy to Mike de Kock for Fayrooz.

“It was an honour receiving this trophy from Mr Ferraris, who has been a part of the fabric of South African racing for many decades.”

Ferraris provided the grounding for many of SA’s leading trainers including Mike himself, David Ferraris and Weiho Marwing, also Singapore-based Michael Clements.
