MIKE de Kock has a single runner on Sun Met Day and he’s not without a chance.

Atyaab (AUS) will contest the Gr1 Cape Derby over 2000m in the expected competitive company and he’s been priced up among the outsiders at 14-1.

Atyaab.

Mathew de Kock said: “Atyaab has been here for a week, he travelled well from Johannesburg and he’s in good shape, his work has been good.

“We felt he wouldn’t be competitive in the first two legs of the Triple Crown in Johannesburg, the Guineas over 1600m and the Classic over 1800m. But he has a chance in the Derby over 2000m and after this he will be aimed at the SA Derby over 2450m.”
