KIRSTEN de Kock has acquired a first racehorse with her dad Mike – Arlington’s Revenge, a R75,000 yearling by The Apache raised at Rosedene Stud, will make his debut over 1200m at Turffontein on Saturday.
Kirsten, who was recently awarded her Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Dance from UCT, will be at the track to see Arlington’s Revenge go out for his first run with Tshwaro Appie doing the riding.
Kirsten said: “My mom (Diane) came up with his name, it has an emotional attachment. We travelled to Chicago for the Arlington Million in 2013 and were at the track with Declan Cronin and Pat Cummings. The Apache won the race for us, but was demoted to second place after an objection. It was such a let-down and we were all upset, though the experience of being there was wonderful.”
Mike said that Arlington’s Revenge will need the outing but that he could sneak into the first four, so put him in your Quartet for first-timer Kirsten’s luck!
