“ALL our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them,” said the legendary filmmaker Walt Disney. In the sport of horse racing, dreams are fulfilled more often than you’d expect. But, as Disney recommends, one has to put your dreams on the line to have them fulfilled!

It’s as easy as sending an e-mail.

Mathew de Kock has officially launched his Onamission website that will support the various Onamission Syndicates.

Onamission was formed to give small investors a chance to become involved in the Sport Of Kings for truly affordable once-off payments. Your share can be from as little as 1% to 10%, or 20%, or more, depending on your budget, but every investor gets the same benefits – a year’s training fees and veterinary bills settled in advance, full syndicate membership, stable visits, access to our private suite at Turffontein and the expert advice from internationally renowned trainer Mike de Kock and his son, Mathew.

“Educating every new client is important,” says Mathew. “As is helping them understand the game, and then guiding them as they fall in love with it – just like we did. And importantly, one shouldn’t have to make a loan to get involved, our syndicates really are within reach of everyone because the ownership packages are specifically tailored to suit everyone!”

Arminius, high hopes.

We are opening our latest syndication offer with shares in Arminius, a Vercingetorix colt out of Rainbow Flag. He’s a half-brother to top-class stakes-winners Kangaroo Jack and Mike, who trained Vercingetorix, describes him as such: “He is a very well-balanced horse and has inherited many of his father’s attributes. He is a good mover and has a great temperament. He comes from a family of many winners, all by a wide variety of stallions. We are very excited about this horse’s future”.

Let’s look at the Onamission Syndicates so far.

The first two interested shareholders decided to go big or go home. Michael Shea and Murray Makepeace formed a partnership with Mike de Kock in Takingthepeace, who has won near R1,5-million and two legs of the 2017 Triple Tiara.

Over 100 shares, including several shares to our grooms, were syndicated in Puget Sound, a R120,000 buy who was a great start for a syndicate comprising over 100 members. Puget Sound returned his purchase price within three runs and is not done yet. He has run in the Gauteng Guineas and the Dingaans, which are both fantastic big occasions for first time owners. He also had the opportunity to run in the R1 million rand Kuda Sprint race on Sun Met Day in 2017.

Two other horses owned by multiple owners and being prepped to make their track debuts soon are Saint Etienne, an Elusive Fort gelding out of Spring Beauty. We also have Elbi, who is our first filly in the syndicate. She is a lovely daughter of Philanthropist out of Madrisa.

So, to those reading this, consider your dreams, don’t be scared and don’t be shy. We are literally “on a mission” to help people from all walks of life to share in the joys racing and to help us to lay the foundations for the future. We believe that the small owner will be the backbone of future racing in a highly competitive leisure market.

In Australia, syndication has already achieved sensational results for small owners. The 2017 $13-million Everest Sprint was one by Redzell, a $120,000 buy syndicated to 17 owners including police officers, school teachers, a doctor, a taxi driver, concreter, electrician, pharmacist, cricket coach and a security guard.

Said concreter Abram Savage: “It’s been a ride that I’d never expected. I have a small concreting business and, of course, the money Redzel has generated has been fantastic. It’s been more than that, more than just a dream coming true, it’s the excitement of following him and the joy it gives everyone in the family.

“Win, lose or draw, we have a marvellous association with all the other owners who we’d never met before we bought our share.”

At Onamission we are off to a great start from only two runners and we aim to hit the headlines like clockwork with multiple winners for multiple happy owners. We are here to serve, here to help and here to share with you the passion and rewards of the greatest sport of them all.
