BAROOT is in action at Meydan on Thursday night – his last run this Dubai season, and he’s back on sand in a handicap over 1600m.
Mike de Kock commented: “Baroot’s been racing very well on turf recently including a second in a Carnival race, but he has won on sand and has a low sand rating so this looks like a race in which he can be competitive.
“We’ll have to change tactics going from turf back to sand and if he hasn’t lost his appetite for this he should run well.”
It’s a seasonal swansong too, for well-performed Light The Lights, who will be taken to Abu Dhabi on Saturday for their Championship race over 2200m on turf.
“Light The Lights looks to have a winning chance at the ratings, I don’t foresee any problems with the extra 200m and he is pretty well within himself. He has had a long hard season, however – if that hasn’t taken its toll he should go well.”
Adrie de Vries will ride both runners.
