WHEN Alwahsh won his 1160m Maiden debut at Turffontein, Mike de Kock said that he was a “bulky horse that looks like a sprinter despite being bred for further.”
The three-year-old colt by Sepoy from a mare by O’Reilly tried 1200m at the Vaal on Tuesday, stepping up to MR84 company, and won with ease under Callan Murray, disposing of Tandava, who is no slouch, and other hard-knocking handicappers.
Mathew de Kock said: “He moved up in class and did well, he was playing with the second horse. He does look like a fair sprinter in the making, but we’ll probably try him mover 1400m too.
Alwahsh races for Sheikh Hamdan of Dubai.
