POLAR Vortex has shown some measured improvement over ground. He ran out a 2.25-length winner of a Maiden Plate over 2000m at Turffontein last Saturday, ridden in a Grooms Plate by Mike de Kock’s stable regular, Chamu Mabaya.
Three-year-old Polar Vortex was bred at Varsfontein, he’s a son of Western Winter from a mare by Fort Wood and staying will be his game, no doubt.
“It was good to train a winner for Mr and Mrs Rattray again,” said Mike de Kock, who sent this one out for Mike and Norma Rattray, formerly of Lammerskraal Stud.
Alfolk (AUS), posted his second win from five starts in a Juvenile Plate over 1160m, galloping a small field right off their feet in a smart four-length win. The son of Lonhro looks like he is getting on with the job for Sheikh Hamdan and Mike agreed, saying: “Alfolk has improved for gelding, this was his second run after being gelded and he looks like a good three-year-old sprinting prospect for next season.”
