January 15, 2017DUBAI Racing Channel presenter Laura King and husband Clint Martin (photo) are two of (in effect) over 140 shareholders in our first-up colt Puget Sound in Race 1 over 1000m at Turffontein today.
Mike and Mathew de Kock decided to start the “Onamission Syndicate” with the purpose of getting more new and “small” owners into the game and shares of 1% were offered in Puget Sound, who as a CTS Ready To Run purchase qualifies for the R1-million Kuda Sprint on Met Day and needs to win or run very good race today to have a chance of making the final field. Declarations are on Monday.
Mike started by dividing 50% of the shares between the yard’s grooms and staff – 125 in all – and the other 50% was syndicated between 17 shareholders from four different countries.
Mathew joked: “As you can see there is no pressure on Puget Sound first time out!”
As for the official pre-race report, Mat informed: “Puget Sound is doing everything right at home. He has to finish in the first three to give us and the selection panel of the Kuda Sprint confidence. Whatever happens he will improve with the experience. He is bred for further but I’d be disappointed if he doesn’t run in the first three.”

Hello Mike will you be offering any other shares in the future and where can I get all the information, I have horses 2 yr o with Tom Dascombe in the UK this year, as part of the living legends racing syndicate, I have often said to Steve Taplin our Boss we should get involved in Horses in South Africa, Steve taplin our boss writes a book about 2 y o in the UK , he visits up to 100 yards sometimes we go with him those yards involved tell him about all of their 2 y o and what they think of them , all the Top Newmarket and Lambourn trainers are involved , 2 y o progeny lines breeding is something we love to study. All of the Trainers recieve a free copy of the book , I can easily arrange for you a copy Mike I think you will find it quite informative.
