FOUR-year-old Fareeq (AUS) has been somewhat erratic, but he doesn’t lack ability and posted his third win from seven starts at the Vaal on Tuesday.
Fareeq (nearest camera), dug down and won a good race.
Racing in a MR85 Handicap over the straight 1400m, Fareeq showed good pace after the start, but Callan Murray had to keep him together to sustain his gallop and rode a well-timed finish, strong with hands-and-heels only.
Fareeq kept up his gallop and won a good race, showing that a mile will also be within his reach.
Fareeq is owned by Sheilh Hamdan of Dubai. He’s a gelding by Nadeem from a mare by Haafd, and more improvement is expected.
