DESPITE trading in a tough economic climate, day one of BSA’s 2016 National Two Year Old Sale at Gosforth Park ended on a real high note on Thursday evening.
Both the aggregate and average rose dramatically, with the aggregate increasing from R4 295 000 to R6 560 000 this year. While day one of the 2015 Two Year Old Sale saw the average peak at R76 696, this year the price rose to R99 939.
Lot 23, Juddpot colt, sold forR320,000.
Klipdrif Stud, acting as agent, consigned the top two lots, with the day’s top lot coming in the form of lot 45. A lovely daughter of former champion sire Captain Al, the filly named Lantana Lady was sold to Varsfontein Stud for R800 000. Out of the dual winning Badger Land mare Land Of Hope, Lantana Lady (also a three parts sister to the Captain Al sired Equus Champion Captain’s Lover) is a full sister to ill-fated Listed Java Handicap winner Fulcrum and to G3 Winter Guineas third Vice Admiral.
The second and final day of the National Two Year Old Sale will get underway at 11am on Friday morning.
