HERE are the four jockeys who may have created a bit of history when filling the first four places on Mike de Kock’s runners in Saturday’s Gr3 SABC Gold Vase on Durban July Day.
Donovan Dillon (light blue crossed sashes), made a steady pace on Kingston Mines, went well clear with Eric Ngwane in pursuit on Smart Mart (red silks). The pair looked like they’d stolen it coming to the 300m-mark, but S’Manga Khumalo (blue cap) had left enough in the tank and flashed up late on Enaad, while Callan Murray (yellow cap), drove his mount Kinaan into fourth in the dying strides.
Diane de Kock, who snapped this photo in the paddock before the race, had no idea of the good fortune she would bring!
Well done to all.
