MIKE and Diane de Kock attended Sunday’s 2016 Grooms Soccer Tournament, sponsored by the Racing Association, at Turffontein, and in support of the defending champions FC Milano, the group of players representing Randjesfontein’s grooms.

The tournament was held on the infield, Diane describes as “quite a well-manicured pitch” and the teams were split into two groups of three.

After the play-offs, Equimotion defeated FC Milano by 2-1 in the final, but Diane says “FC” had the most support. “We had a good laugh because when FC Milano scored, a whole lot of their supporters ran onto the field.”

FC Milano is coached by David Dlamini and Diane told: “He does a good job with the Randjesfontein players. Our team, and the tournament, has a lot of potential. It’s a good gesture by the RA, the grooms love it.”

Winners Equimotion received medals and a first prize of R7,0000, while FC Milano also got medals and R3,000 for their efforts.
