IN a joint press release issued by Phumelela and the Racing Association, it has been announced that more than R278 million will be paid in prize money in Phumelela regions for the racing season 2015-16.

Stakes on the Highveld will increase to R148 million, in the Eastern Cape to R41.7 million and the Northern Cape to R16.2 million.

Phumelela manages racing and betting in the Western Cape on behalf of Kenilworth Racing and prize money there will increase to just over R72 million for the season (excluding The CTS Million Dollar Race).

These Stake increases will be in effect from 1 January 2016.
