AT age 24 today, 2 September, Mathew de Kock knows more about horses than most of us can ever dream of knowing, and he’s handled his tutelage and rise in one of the world’s toughest professions with enthusiasm and astounding maturity.
Mat said: “I think I’ve learnt more about horses and other things in the last three years than in the 21 years before that!”
Well-travelled and already a vital cog in he well-oiled Mike de Kock racing machine, Mat has set his sights on constant future improvement of his all-round skills.
That’s arguably a modest view of the future for a young man undoubtedly destined for the highest ranks and who seems to get everything done in a relaxed, effortless fashion.
We wish Mathew well today, with many happy returns!
