BRAZILIAN-bred Toro Rosso just needed his debut run over 1160m at Turffontein when he was outpaced by Talca, but with the benefit of the experience he put it all together in a Maiden Plate over 1200m on turf at the Vaal on Thursday, winning by 1.60-lengths under Anthony Delpech.
Toro Rosso (6-10) is a colt by Elusive Quality from Haras Old Friends and he is raced by Mary Slack.
The progeny of Elusive Quality invariably perform well on sand and the stable will be hoping that Toro Rosso has the same versatility.
