LOUIS The King, an impressive third in last weekend’s Charity Mile, is now the outright favourite for the R2-million Sansui Summer Cup over 2000m at Turffontein on 29 November.
The 2013 Triple Crown winner has been priced up at 4-1, having shared top billing with his stablemate Rake’s Chestnut at 8s last week.

Louis The King is one of nine Woodruff entries in the Summer Cup, although three will definitely not make it into the final field. At this stage of his horses’ preparations, he says Master Sabina (currently second favourite with Betting World after a facile win in a Pinnacle Stakes at Turffontein on Tuesday last week) and Louis The King have impressed him most.
Louis The King is entered in the Victory Moon Stakes on Saturday next week, but Woodruff said “we’ll get him ready from home”.
Mike de Kock’s three-year-old Anjaal and the older stayer Wild One are on offer at 16-1, with 330-1 available on Canterbury Tale.
Run For It, Snowdon and Straw Market have been scratched from the initial list of entries for the Cup. Final entries close at 11am on Monday 17 November. Declarations are on Tuesday 18 November and the final field and draws will be announced on Wednesday 19 November.
