EIGHTFOLD Path has joined the Scott Brothers at Highdown Stud as a stallion.
He is the product of two champions, being by Giant’s Causeway (USA) out of the Niarchos Family’s outstanding racemare, Divine Proportions (USA).
Between them they won 11 Gr.1 races from 5f to 11f against the best company in the world. Divine Proportions hails from a sire producing female line, the likes of Shirley Heights and Pentire Champion Sires in their own right with Konigstiger and Whipper also featuring prominently in sires lists in Europe.
On the racetrack, Eightfold Path showed early brilliance for leading French trainer, Pascal Bary, winning on debut and then following up in the Gr.3 Prix Eclipse over 6f. His subsequent third place against subsequent Gr.1 performers, Buzzword and Siyouni, in the Gr.3 Prix La Rochette over 7f, was arguably his best performance.
Racing in the famous Niarchos colours, Eightfold Path was one of Bary’s leading hopes for the 2010 Classic season, but plans had to be shelved when he sustained an injury during the build up to the French 2000 Guineas.
On his return at four years, he won another 2 races including a Listed mile event at Deauville.
Eightfold Path joins fellow Niarchos bred stallions standing in South Africa, MOGOK, JUDPOT and ATSO, and breeders are encouraged to consider supporting this exciting prospect.
