JOCKEY Piere Strydom will be riding at Veliefendi Racecourse in Istanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday at an international jockeys’ challenge in which he and four other international riders will take on a hot team of five Turkish hoops.
Six of the seven races at the fixture will be screened live on Tellytrack, starting at 5.30pm, and TAB will offer Win, Place, Exactas, Swinger, Trifecta and Quartet bets on all six races. Jackpot and Pick 3 bets will be available from Races 4 to 7 – the challenge races – and 5 to 7 respectively.

The challenge pits five Turkish jockeys against five international riders – Strydom, Frankie Dettori (UK), last year’s challenge winner Javier Castellano (USA), Yutaka Take (Japan) and Stephane Pasquir (France) – in a four-race series, with €22,000 in prize money up for grabs.
Turkey’s jockeys are Halis Karatas, who is well known in South Africa following his participation in our local International Jockeys’ Challenge, Selim Kaya, Ahmet Çelik, Gökhan Kocakaya and Özcan Yildirim.
Riders have been randomly assigned mounts in each of the four contests.
