WORLD renowned trainer Sir Henry Cecil has passed away. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2006 and despite being gravely ill, actually was able to surpass previous records that he set in his illustrious career as a racehorse trainer.
Cecil, apart from being one of the most influential and successful racehorse trainers of all time as the trainer of 25 British Classic winners, is best known for his flawless handling of Frankel – the world’s greatest racehorse with a perfect record of 14 wins from 14 starts including 10 Gr1 races.
Cecil’s website reported: “It is with great sadness that Warren Place Stables confirms the passing of Sir Henry Cecil earlier this morning. Following communication with the British Horseracing Authority, a temporary licence will be allocated to Lady Cecil”.
