CLAIMING apprentice Collen Storey had his first ride for the stable on Sunday at Clairwood and it was a winning one. Storey partnered Indira to a short-head victory in an Apprentice Handicap over 1200m, riding a well-judged race.
Three-year-old Indira had won her previous start over 1000m, shedding her Maiden tag, and kicked on again late in this 1200m contest, showing that she might enjoy a bit further too.
Indira is a daughter of former SA Fillies Sprint winner Rat Burana, who was Grade 1 placed up to 1800m.
Assisistant trainer Nathan Kotzen said of Indira: “I think she has quite a bit of improvement to come, so she’s one to watch in her next few runs.”
Indira races in the silks of Mary Slack and is a graduate of Wilgerbosdridft Stud.
