JOCKEY Anthony Delpech rode an enterprising race on Tequila Sunrise (15-10), to win a MR69 Handicap over 2200m at Turffontein on Saturday.

Bowling along steadily in third down the back straight, Tequila Sunrise had lots of reserves in his tank and Delpech hastened the pace, sending his mount to the front before they turned for home and leaving his main rivals flatfooted.

Tequila Sunrise took command, extended his lead and had the race in the bag with 250m left to run.  He won easing down, by 1.25-lengths.

Owned by T-Men Stables, Tequila Sunrise is by Captain Al from Leading Dame.

At Scottsville on Sunday, Delpech partnered Alareef (Stronghold), to victory for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.
