FIVE-year-old entire, Jet Legend, broke down during the running of the Freehold Handicap at Meydan on Thursday night and had to be put down.
Jet Legend, a full-brother to international sprint star, JJ The Jet Plane, had won five of 12 races contested, including the Gr 3 King’s Cup.
Mike de Kock commented: “This is a blow to his owner Sheikh Hamdan and to the stable. It’s really gut-wrenching and it spoilt an otherwise good night at Meydan. Unexpected things happen in racing, but it’s always hard to come to terms with incidents like these.”
