RIGHT Beauty, in his first outing on sand, delivered a powerful run under Anthony Delpech to defeat Mabuko Spirit by 2.25-lengths at the Vaal on Thursday.
The son of Right Approach had shown decent form on turf before, but on the evidence of this run Mike de Kock will be looking at more future engagements on sand, including feature events.
Assistant trainer John Buckler commented: “Right Beauty has always been a promising horse and I think this Vaal win can be attributed to a bit of both the sand surface and the fact that he raced fitted with blinkers for the first time. On this he might well shape as an Emerald Cup contender later this year.”
