THREE-year-old filly Tajmeel (AUS) followed her runaway Maiden success at Scottsville recently with another fluent win in a MR72 Handicap over 1600m at Greyville on Tuesday night.
Tajmeel, who skated away to win a Maiden mile by 8.75-lengths on 3 April, beat a 13-15 draw and, in the words of commentator Sheldon Peters, was “locked on target” as she clocked a 2.25-length win under top weight of 60kg in this higher division.
Tajmeel (Delpech), easily accounts for Al Nadira. (Gold Circle).
Anthony Delpech got Tajmeel across quick and she settled near the fence in second, travelling smoothly. She quickened at the 400m mark and it was immediately clear that she wouldn’t be caught. She crossed the wire unextended, with ears pricked.
“We were impressed by the ease with which Tajmeel beat the draw tonight,” said assistant trainer Nathan Kotzen. “She’s a big, robust filly with more improvement in her and we’ll be following her career with interest. Mike will decide whether we run her in the forthcoming KRA Guineas, she has been nominated.”
Tajmeel was bred and is owned by Sheikh Hamdan of Dubai.
