MIKE’S son Mathew is currently in England doing a six-month course at the National Stud and will return to South Africa during the winter.

Mike said: “He’s a valuable member of the team, but he must build his horizons and expand his knowledge and I thought it would be good experience for him to know more about the thoroughbred from the time it’s born to racing.
“He’s enjoying himself, despite the cold.”
